Single-channel video

In 2021, while still living in Colombia, I witnessed part of the protests that were happening all over the country through the window of my home. Today, from Germany, I revisit those images through screens. This video explores the uncomfortable position of privilege: that of those who, like me, have experienced violence without living it directly, mediated by devices, algorithms, and media.

Tragedies become simulations, violence turns into content and the viewer becomes a consumer. Durchs Fenster questions the role of the spectator, digital memory and geopolitical disconnection in times of crisis. And at the same time, it invites a critical reflection on the responsibility we assume regarding the politics of the image.
